17th Sado Junior Triathlon

To: Expectant participants from Grade 1 to Grade 6 & the parents/guardians
Regarding race categories:

 

  • The course of Junior Triathlon has been designed in consideration of safety, but we have frequently received the comment that many kids actually didn’t swim, but ran or walked, and that was not the real form of triathlon consisting of “Swim”, “Bike” and “Run”.
  • To improve this situation, we divided the categories intoYoung kids and Kids who can swim the designated distance of each category (possibly with some rest), and Beginners who are not confident with swimming. The swim course for Young kids and Kids will be in the same direction as Junior. (Go out to sea and come back.) Naturally, we take more safety measures including life-savers. Please read the following and determine the adequate category.

Beginner
(From Grade 1
to Grade 6)
50m It is allowed to walk (run) on the swimming course. No award is given.
The result will be issued.
Young kids
(From Grade 1
to Grade 3)
50m The participant must swim 50m. It is not allowed to walk (run) on the swimming course (except the vicinity of swim start/finish area).
It is allowed to rest at buoys, etc. on the course.
Top athletes will be awarded.
The result will be issued.
Kids
(From Grade 4
to Grade 6)
100m The participant must swim 100m. It is not allowed to walk (run) on the swimming course (except the vicinity of swim start/finish area).
It is allowed to rest at buoys, etc. on the course.
Top athletes will be awarded.
The result will be issued.
